Wedding Photography

wedding 1After the wedding...
How will you remember the day? Only in photographs!

One of the most important and least understood preparations couples need to consider when planning a wedding is the arrangement for photography. Preserving and enhancing the memory of your special day depends on making the right decisions regarding who will photograph your wedding and having an effective plan.

Whether going to City Hall, a traditional wedding including church and reception, or a destination wedding, pictures should not be an afterthought. You may be tempted to ask a friend or family member who's a photography enthusiast to take snapshots as a way to save money. This is a not a good idea. Being a guest and taking pictures are a distraction. It's important that the person taking pictures is focused on you and on what is happening around you so that no moment is missed and every expression captured.

  • Wedding photography requires specialized skills.
  • The photographer must have a thorough understanding of lighting, posing and mastery of the camera.
  • Additionally, experience dealing with people and the ability to anticipate picture opportunities as well as potential problems makes having a professional photographer a smart investment.

Having photographed several thousand weddings over the last 40 years, Siegman Portraits has that experience.

A pre-wedding consultation is crucial to ensuring success. To begin with, it's important to have an understanding of how you intend to use your photographs. You may only want ownership of the digital negatives so that you can determine later how you want to use them. You may be anticipating assembling them into a traditional album or a digital scrap book. You may want to use the pictures on Facebook, in a digital frame, a slideshow, or to create family albums or unique gifts. Having some idea of how they may be utilized may influence the coverage.

It's also important to have a plan. Put together an itinerary of how you expect your day to unfold. Knowing the schedule, who will attend, and understanding your preferences to styles of photography and the importance you place on specific pictures will help us compile a shot list that will guide us in providing you the pictures that you want. Additionally, this planning will enable us to do our job in a way that avoids interfering with you and your guests’ enjoyment of your day!
